# Porting Phone Numbers to Zuper Connect

Number porting allows you to transfer your existing business phone numbers from your current telecom provider to Zuper Connect without changing the numbers your customers already use.

Once the porting process is completed:

* Calls and SMS messages are handled through **Zuper Connect**, allowing your team to manage customer communication directly from the platform while continuing to use the same business phone numbers.
* The ported numbers can use Zuper Connect features such as **AI-powered interactions**, **call routing**, and **communication automation**, helping streamline customer communication and workflows.

The Zuper Connect team manages the porting process and coordinates with the telecom carrier to complete the transfer.

## How Phone Number Porting Works

Porting a phone number involves several stages, where the information is verified and approved by the current carrier.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Complete 10DLC Registration (For SMS)">
    If your organization intends to send SMS messages using the ported numbers, [10DLC registration](/Zuper_Connect/10DLC#step-1-gather-your-business-information) must be completed first. This registration ensures compliance with telecom regulations and allows SMS messaging to function correctly after the port.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Submit the Zuper Connect Porting Form">
    The Zuper Connect team will provide a **Porting Request Form** to start the process.

    * Phone numbers to port
    * Current carrier name
    * Account number
    * Port-out PIN
    * Business name exactly as listed with the carrier
    * Service address
    * Recent phone bill
    * Signed Letter of Authorization (LOA)

    Providing accurate information helps prevent delays during carrier verification.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Zuper Connect Submits the Port Request">
    After the form is submitted, the Zuper Connect team reviews the provided information and submits the porting request to the telecom carrier.

    The carrier then validates the request against the information on their records.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Carrier Validation">
    The current carrier verifies several details before approving the port request. These include:

    * Account ownership
    * Business information
    * Phone number status
    * Any pending changes or restrictions on the account

    If the request is approved, the carrier issues a **Firm Order Commitment (FOC) date** for the transfer.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Port Completion">
    On the scheduled **FOC date**:

    * The phone numbers are transferred to Zuper Connect.
    * Calls and SMS services are activated within the platform.
    * The numbers are configured and ready for use in the Zuper Connect account.
  </Step>
</Steps>
